Slippery Fish is a parent-run childcare cooperative for children ages 18 months to 3 years old. Slippery Fish provides a flexible play-based structure with parent designed and guided activities. Children are free to explore and follow their natural curiosity.

History

Slippery Fish evolved from an Axis baby group in 2005, into a babysitting exchange playgroup in September of 2006. A First Five grant facilitated the move to a larger play space and inspired the group to formalize their structure so they could expand and share this resource with other neighbors.

How it works

Slippery Fish is staffed by parents and operates from 9am - 12 noon. We are currently running a Monday and Wednesday program and a Tuesday and Thursday program.

Dues are $75/month for 2 days a week or $150/month for 4 days a week.

Member families are responsible for taking turns supervising the playgroup based on a 50% ratio of time their child spends each week at playgroup. Parents are also responsible for contributing to program coordination and maintenance of the play space.
