Tuition & Financial Aid

Tuition

For current tuition information, please visit our Programs page

Why is preschool so expensive?

We don’t have a quick answer to that question, but we do have financial support for all San Francisco residents. And with a parent-run Board making budget decisions, you can have confidence that your tuition dollars are being spent thoughtfully.

Financial Aid Information

Slippery Fish is proud to be funded as an Early Learning Scholarship site through San Francisco’s Department of Early Childhood

Early Learning for All:

annual income for a family of four): Families are eligible to receive FREE enrollment at programs in the Early Learning For All network.

Tuition Credit
For families earning between 111%-150% of the Area Median Income (up to a $224,800 yearly income for a family of four): Families are eligible for a tuition credit for 50% off DEC’s published tuition rates.

Fundraising

Slippery Fish does NOT have a fundraising requirement.

Many schools require raffle ticket sales, auction donations, or have other expectations around fundraising, but we do not. Our school community is socio-economically diverse, a rarity in San Francisco, so we avoid hidden fees or additional costs to ensure greater accessibility for all.

That said, we do fundraise (because we’re a school), but families are not required or expected to participate.

Our fundraising team offers several fun, creative activities each year that build community while providing financial support for our school. We also partner with Amazon Smile, Gus’s Market, Sloat Garden Center, Rainbow Grocery, and Tea Collection, among others, to support our school. When families do their normal shopping and designate Slippery Fish as their beneficiary, they can raise funds for Slippery Fish with a little extra effort, but no additional cost.
